Introduction

Klerksdorp Stingrays is a swimming club based in the city of Klerksdorp, which is located in the North West Province of South Africa. Klerksdorp is only 1½ hours drive from Johannesburg, and centrally located as far as galas in the North West Province are concerned.

The Club is run by a committee entrusted with the management of the club facilities and the promotion of both recreational and competitive swimming. The committee and constitution of the club abides by all rules as required by Swim South Africa.

Our aim is training and developing the young swimmer, from teaching basic swimming strokes to specialised coaching for the advanced swimmer capable of representing our country at national and international level.

Development and Learn To Swim

The Learn to Swim program is aimed at the transformation of swimming in South Africa, and as such focuses on reaching children at our "grass roots" level. Many swimming clubs in South Africa have been tasked with the responsibility of implementing Learn To Swim programs in their respective towns and cities. Stingrays has taken the opportunity and initiative to implement Learn To Swim programs at various locations in and around Klerksdorp. The club is also dedicated Learn to Swim  development at a Provincial level in the North West Province.

Toddlers, pre scholars, children and adults are all encouraged to attend training sessions at these locations. Besides learning basic swimming strokes and anti drowning techniques, swimmers may progress on through our various development levels, ultimately being in a position to represent the province, and even our country.
